Abstract
The advent of time based location systems paves the way to the introduction of many exciting applications. However, they can only function correctly if the system has a common concept of time. Often it is not practical to synchronize all receivers using wires so alternative methods must be found. This paper outlines the use of a DW1000 ScenSor, an IEEE 802.15.4a transceiver, as a test platform. It then describes and compares several methods of wirelessly synchronizing all the sensors in the location system.
