  • Abstract
As the mutual coupling effects play a major role in synthesizing of array, it needs to be investigated. This paper discusses the process of computing the mutual coupling among rectangular patch antenna elements (RPAE) conformed onto a hemisphere surface. The elements are arranged in two different distributions, mainly E- and H-plane type. The isolated mutual coupling is considered in an array which contains only two RPAEs. It is shown that the amplitude of isolated coupling between them onto a hemispherical array decays exponentially. Furthermore, the effect of the curvature radius on the isolated coupling is considered. Indeed, the mutual coupling in an array of RPAE onto a hemispherical surface is investigated. Finally, the isolated- and embedded-element pattern of RPAE onto a hemispherical surface is noticed.
