Abstract :
The concept of audio/video call and conferencing using Wi-Fi is discussed in this paper. We have proposed a method to have audio/video calls and conferencing using Wi-Fi at negligible cost. Most of the techniques used for the conferencing are based on the client-server architecture. These techniques suffer from the fundamental problem of the centralized system i.e., single point of failure. The main aim of our study is to suggest some innovative means of designing completely decentralized system for the audio/video calls and conferencing, which does not suffer from the problems of the centralized system. The proposed model for audio/video call and conferencing is based on the p2p architecture. A mobile number to IP address conversion algorithm is designed, which does not rely on any centralized database, and users are not required to register on any centralized service. An application is developed for the android-based mobile phones, which facilitates audio/video call and audio conferencing using WLAN.
