Abstract :
The choice of a burst assembly technique in optical burst switching networks is crucial to the networks performance especially in terms of delay and loss. In this paper, fuzzy logic is used to adjust the time-threshold of the timer assembly algorithm based on the ingress traffic. The aims to minimize burst and packet end-to-end delay while keeping the packet loss ratio within a reasonable range. The proposed technique has shown an improved performance in terms of delay over the conventional timer assembly algorithm through simulation results.
