Abstract :
Energy Data Management (EDM) Utilities cater to the needs of energy data management, dissemination and analytics. Data management applies management of data collected from smart grids and smart meters, meter data analytics. The use of one database for different kinds of requirements may lead to non-performing solutions; storing energy generation, distribution and consumption data from smart grids, storing transactional data, caching session information, storing customer profile information, traversing graph of energy dissemination data and storage and retrieval of time series data from smart meters are different problems. Polyglot persistence refers to usage of different data storage technologies by taking into consideration the different ways in which multiple applications use the data. Our proposed approach gives a solution that allows collective access to a combination of databases by taking advantage of the concept known as polyglot persistence. A prototype of the above concept applied to Energy Data Management Systems (EDMS) is made as a proof of concept and results are shared in this paper.
