Abstract
This paper means to explore the application of input-output feedback linearization method to control the model-based firing behavior. The Pinsky-Rinzel (PR) model is used to develop the feedback controller. The epileptiform behavior is modeled by the high frequency burst of 29 Hz and the normal desired behavior is modeled by the periodic firing of 6 Hz. The epilepsy treatment is formulated as a classic control problem with current control input. The control input is applied to the soma, and the soma membrane potential is taken as output term. Simulation results show that the input-output feedback linearization control is quite effective, because the control accuracy is very high, with the controlled output tracking the desired one soon after the application of the control signal. What is more, the method is robustness of noise, the control signal and control error are both small in a range of noise intensity. Our findings demonstrate the potential value of input-output feedback linearization controller for epilepsy disease.
