Abstract
In real world applications the supply, the demand and the transportation cost per unit of the quantities in a transportation problem are hardly specified precisely because of the changing economic and environment conditions. In this paper an method has been proposed for the minimization of transportation cost when the supply, demand and transportation cost are interval numbers. For this case, an auxiliary problem is obtained in order to find a solution. This auxiliary problem is a classical transportation problem which can be solved with the efficient method existing. Using the existing method we can find optimal solution. Then using arithmetic operations of the interval number the optimal value can be obtained. To illustrate the proposed method a numerical example is solved.
