Abstract
The natural suitability of the human settlements environment is the foundation of human existence and development. Meanwhile, with the development of the social economy, there is an increasingly concerning of the suitability of the human settlement environment, and the relative researches have been gradually deepening, related to much more extensive areas. It fundamentally constrains the cluster and development of regional population. The article has offered such methodologies as the relief degree of land surface (RDLS), vegetation index, hydrology index, climate suitability to calculate the natural suitability of the human settlements environment in different regions in Yunnan province. The results of the research will make an important reference for the function zoning of population development, the optimized distribution of the population space, and the coordinated relationship of the population, resources and the environment.
