Abstract :
In order to obtain the best possible time instant for the start of received frame, in this paper, we concentrate on designing an effective timing synchronization algorithm based on a modified training sequence for the MIMO-OFDM systems. Firstly, the framework of MIMO-OFDM system with synchronization is illustrated, which is made up of the sender module and the receiver module. Secondly, the formal description of the timing synchronization problem in MIMO-OFDM system is provided. Thirdly, a modified training sequence is designed, in which each line represents a transmitting antenna, and some conditions related to the training sequence are defined. Fourthly, timing synchronization can be achieved by defining a timing offset estimation function which is used between the sending antenna and receiving antenna. Finally, simulations are conducted to make performance under different performance evaluation metric, and other methods are compared. From the simulation results, we can see that the proposed algorithm can effectively solve the timing synchronization problem for the MIMO-OFDM systems.
