Abstract :
Smoke-proof staircase is the most important evacuation route in high-rise building during a fire. So the smoke prevention effect of the staircase is related to the safety of the persons in the building directly. Stairwell pressurization system is now in general use internationally. But the effectiveness is influenced by ambient temperature and outside wind. But the influence of the smoke movement induced by outside wind is generally ignored during the calculation of mechanical smoke control volume flow rate. So it is necessary to study on the smoke prevention effect of the staircase under the influence of outside wind. In this paper, the velocity change of the air flow between lobby and corridor in a 30-story building under the influence of outside wind was simulated using the network simulation software CONTAM3.0. The results showed that the smoke prevention effectiveness of the staircase was influenced by the wind velocity, wind direction and stack effect obviously. The smoke prevention system with mechanical smoke control volume flow rate of 25000m3/h was out of service when the outside wind speed was 4m/s. When the mechanical smoke control volume flow rate was 40000m3/h, the smoke prevention system was out of service under the outside wind speed of 6m/s.
