Abstract :
In this paper, a novel miniaturized periodic element for constructing a band pass frequency selective surface (FSS) is proposed. The dimensions of the proposed FSS elements are much smaller than the operating wavelength. Due to symmetric configuration, the FSS element has achieved excellent resonance stability. Moreover, the miniaturization characteristic of the proposed structure is stable with respect to different incident angles of the waves illuminating. Parametric analysis was conducted on the proposed unit cell structure & simulation results are presented. It was found that a band pass response occur at about 16.95 GHz . 3dB bandwidth of the pass band is 4.33 GHz. FSS is a metallic screen with frequency selective properties which are used as a spatial filters through which EM energy with a specific frequency range may be propagated.
