Abstract :
We demonstrate how to capture the sensitivity of the road on the transportation network in the case of degradable roads represented by decreasing capacities. The analysis is conducted based on BPR road travel cost functions and quantitative network efficiency measure for transportation networks. The numerical examples showed that different roads should set different maintenance point according to the retention capacities of the roads, which is because that the different roads play different role in the network and have different importance to the network operation. This method could help managers save lots of road maintenance funds in transportation network.
