Abstract :
In recent years, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) technology is developing from traditional closed and special structure to open structure. Many researchers of developed countries have designed open CNC motion controllers. These controllers could achieve high performance trajectory interpolation, have good processing speed control mechanisms, and have proper user interfaces. However, they are not only expensive but also could be improved in integration and scalability with modern electronic technology. In recent years, reconfigurable technology and SoC (System on Chip) technology which could be used in CNC motion controller to improve its performance and integration gradually appear. This paper designed a reconfigurable and low cost and high performance CNC motion controller with PSoC (Programmable System on Chip) in which three kinds of interpolation functions are achieved. "Pulse compensating method" is designed for linear interpolation while "self-adapted variable step length interpolation method" is designed for arc and Nurbs curve interpolation. Speed-distance control scheme for acceleration and deceleration and look-ahead speed control scheme for the inflection points of trajectory are also designed to improve the stability of the system. The controller has good portability, scalability, high integration and low cost.
