Abstract :
In practical applications of fiber optic gyroscope (FOG), the impact of shock on FOG precision should be considered, especially under the condition of explosion. To improve the performance of FOG in shock environment, a key issue is fixed the fiber coil well. Besides, the fiber tail of the Y waveguide as well as the fiber coil is also an important factor which will influence the shock performance of FOG. In this paper, based on the elastic-optic effect, the nonreciprocal phase shift error of FOG induced by the shock and the acceleration response of the hull induced by explosion are analyzed in theory firstly. And then the angular rate errors induced by explosion in three axes of the gyroscope are calculated. Simulation results show that shock caused by explosion will affect the performance of FOG significantly.
