  • Abstract
Wireless sensors are becoming very popular in industrial applications. As battery solutions are not acceptable in places where maintenance is limited, self-powering approaches are still being developed and tested by many manufacturers. Passive sensors, such as Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensors are an example of a wireless sensor technology which does not require any external power source. SAW sensors are based on the interaction between environmental parameters and acoustic waves which are passing through a piezoelectric material. The paper presents SAW temperature measurement approach and example of the power electronics system where SAW technology has been used.
