Abstract :
Smartphones are exactly what their names imply, smart with a variety of sensors, and due to mass production affordable as computing devices. But an important issue is whether they are robust enough for real computation in embedded systems. This work does a feasibility test, using smartphone images to calculate the 3-D orientation of a cube. Using a combination of image processing techniques we calculate the cube 3-D orientation, which is validated using among other means the smartphone sensors themselves.
