Abstract
Improvement on the cruising range is one of the main research challenges regarding fully electric vehicles, as the comparably low range is seen as one of the major disadvantages and therefore prevents sales. An optimised recuperation strategy can help to increase the range without an extension of the accumulator capacity. In this paper the possible range depending on various trip situations in (a) urban traffic, (b) regional traffic and (c) regional traffic with cruise control is accessed. With this, the recuperation energy of currently available electric vehicles is measured as well as the achieved range.
