Abstract :
Single phase matrix converter has been developed to perform the functions of all operations in one converter that is a single circuit is developed that can perform cycloconverter, cycloinverter, ac voltage regulator, rectifier, inverter, chopper operations. The well-known sinusoidal pulse width modulation is used to synthesize the output. IGBT with antiparallel diode is used as a switching device for controlling current waveform. This paper presents operation with energy storage elements, whether it will be an inductor, capacitor or both along with safe commutation strategies. Simulations were carried out using MATLAB/Simulink and results of simulations are presented to evaluate the behaviour and feasibility of the proposed topology. The operation of proposed system has been found satisfactory.
