Abstract
More and more research is being done in extremely high frequency bands that exceed the frequency ranges of single box signal generators and spectrum analyzers. This necessitates the use of frequency multipliers on the generation side, and harmonic mixers to extend the frequency range of the spectrum analyzer. With these setups there are certain important parameters that should be taken into account and this will be discussed with reference to an example where a 450 MHz wide signal is generated and analyzed using test equipment.
