Abstract
A 20/30GHz Frequency Selective Surface (FSS)-backed reflectarray is introduced in this paper. This reflectarray is designed as part of a shared aperture reflectarray for simultaneous operation at X- and Ka-band. The reflectarray is illuminated with a circularly polarized (CP) feed and the elements are designed to collimate the beam in a desired direction. Separate reflectarrays with frequency selective surface (FSS) as the ground plane was designed for both receive (20 GHz) and transmit (30 GHz) bands. This FSS-backed reflectarray will be located on the top of an X-band reflectarray with a solid ground and the FSS structure is designed to maximize the transmission at X-band.
