Abstract
This paper presents a cognitive radio (CR) testbed based on the advanced geolocation engine (AGE) algorithms. Through simulations and experiments we have shown that among the three maximum allowed transmit power calculation methods specified by the electronic communications committee (ECC) Report 186, the “flexible minimized” calculation method allows the highest transmit power for the cognitive secondary users. Moreover, we enhance the AGE calculation method by using the measured path loss in the deployment environment. It shows that the enhanced AGE algorithm can further improve the system performance by enabling even higher maximum allowed transmit power. Furthermore, the look-up table-based implementation of the enhanced AGE algorithm also significantly reduces the system computation load and therefore improves the deployment efficiency especially for large-scale cognitive radio networks.
