Abstract :
This paper proposed a new classification of Thai action verb classes based on their identical paraphrasing behaviors, emphasis in Thai affirmative sentences. Thai action verbs can be paraphrased by three paraphrase sentence patterns, active-passive voices, object stress, and reciprocal act. These paraphrasing behaviors are powerful tools for grouping the original ten Thai action verb classes into four remaining classes, namely, agent action, reciprocal action, permuted-object action, and collateral-object action. The proposed four Thai action verb classes are verified using a paraphrasing generation system. The resulting paraphrase sentences are rated by Thai native experts and achieved the acceptance rates of 93.44 %.
