A support system for brain tumor´s therapeutic planning

Multidisciplinary approach to treatment planning of brain tumors is a worldwide increasingly practice, this approach is achieved using multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTM) to discuss cases. Studies have shown two main barriers to maximizing the efficiency of the MDTM: lack of information and inadequate presentation of available data to the team members. These difficulties is the reason for design and develop an information system called SATTC (the Portuguese acronym for Support System for Brain Tumor´s Therapeutic Planning) whose premise is identifying, automatically, essential information for treatment planning and show it to team members in adequate way. Three computational technologies were used in the development of the system: Ontology; Data Warehousing Data Mining. The main expected benefit of the proposed system is to avoid that relevant and crucial information are hidden from team members at MDTM.
