Abstract
Three-dimensional terrestrial laser scanning technology is a high-tech and sophisticated development in recent years, so understanding how to use the laser scanner and knowing the acquisition process of point cloud data is very important. This paper focuses specifically on point cloud data acquisition process by using the FARO Focus3D 120 laser scanner. The paper explores whether light affects the accuracy of point cloud data scanned. A total of six tests were conducted in adequate light, low light and moderate light scan scenes in order to assess data accuracy associated with current scanning light environment.
