  • Abstract
The study on PID controller has been a widely concerned topic in the field of industrial process for a long period, but the determination of the controller parameters is still a difficult problem. This paper proposes a new structure of PID controller tuning for n-th order lag (PTn) industrial processes based on damping optimum criterion. This structure is characterized by choosing the differential forward PID controller and adding a pre-filter in front of the whole system structure, which improves the system step response performance: short transient time, small overshoots and oscillations. The effectiveness of the proposed structure is shown both in series of simulations and comparative experiments with Ziegler-Nichols method.
