Abstract :
Analysis of the ferrite phase shifters was performed in this paper, for structures with partially filled R100 waveguides, where the ferrite resonant frequency is controlled by a d.c. biasing magnetic field, H0 = 0-2.6 kOe. A group of magnesium and nickel Trans-Tech ferrites were used for the simulational analysis of the phase shifter, using the HFSS program, in the 6-13 GHz frequency range. A phase shift dispersion with frequency less 10 % was determined and represented on graphs, in the case when geometrical dimensions were set for a nominal ΔΦ value of 90°. The insertion loss including magnetic, dielectric, and conductor losses associated with all components were determined by simulation and calculus. Goods performances of low losses devices (less than 2 dB) can be achieved, corresponding to a figure of merit obtained by simulation of 82 to 86 deg/dB, which is very close to the real system value of this parameter.
