Adopting the theory and technology of a neural network, an ignition waveform based fault diagnosis neural network expert system (NNES) of an ignition system is built. This paper analyses the function and structure, knowledge acquisition and representation, reasoning technology and strategy of the NNES, and gives the models of the NNES
