Abstract :
A problem which is frequently encountered in much current research in optoelectronics is that components such as sources, modulators and detectors are available in the form of arrays of different pitch. Until there is a greater degree of standardisation in the manufacture of different types of component it will frequently happen that the components that are available will not match. We propose that a system consisting of arrays of microlenses can be designed so that bundles of light propagating in an optical system may be expanded or contracted to match the pitches of the various arrays of devices that are encountered
