Abstract :
Thevenin´s, Norton´s and Maximum power transfer theorems have been applied for the solution of the equivalent circuit of split-phase and capacitor start single-phase induction motors, slip being the variable parameter in the circuit. Step by step procedure for the predetermination of performance of the motor has been illustrated with an example. The procedure enunciated in this paper would be very useful to the students, to improve their conceptual understanding of the application of the theorems and also the equivalent circuit of the single-phase motor based on the principle of double field revolving theory.
