Abstract
A distributed problem solving schema is presented which uses a blackboard architecture for problem solving. In this distributed problem solving architecture, not only one but several intelligent agents (or knowledge-based systems) are involved to collaboratively perform problem solving. Each system in this environment has different expertise which can be used to solve part of the complex problem. By using a blackboard structure, expert systems with different expertise can also exchange their own knowledge and partial solution plans to enhance their general problem solving capabilities. This type of architecture is especially suitable for decentralized organizational structure where distributed problem solving is likely to occur
