Measuring Computer Science knowledge level of Hungarian and Romanian students

An analysis Computer Science knowledge of Hungarian and Romanian students was made with the help of a web based Informatics Test. I analysed how effectively can students of different grades answer questions dealing with different subjects. From different towns of Hungary over 60 teachers used the test to see the knowledge level of more than 3000 students having answered these questions and from Romania more than 1000. After the evaluation of the test results the correctness of the original presumption emerged. Significance level was 5% through the analysis. Significant divergence by Hungarian students and Romanian students at classical side was found in 10^th and 12^th grades too. The Hungarian students achieved better results in the 10^th grade except for spreadsheet calculation in which the Romanian students turned out to be more successful. In the 12^th grade the Romanian students achieved better results at database management; the Hungarian ones reached higher scores in spreadsheet calculation. The Hungarian students performed better at theoretical knowledge and word processing in both grades. For programming the Romanian students attending a science course and a Mathematics-Informatics course reached higher scores than the Hungarian students specialized in Informatics in the 11^th grade. The Romanian students attending a natural science course received the same scores the Hungarian students specialized in Informatics and those attending a Mathematics-Informatics course even overtook the Hungarian students in the 12^th grade.
