Abstract
This paper presents an educational laboratory setup, which enables students to perform real laboratory experiments over the Internet. The IP/UDP standard has been proposed for transferring commands compliant with the MODBUS protocol. The limitations caused by the transmission medium and their influence on the program of laboratory experiments have been discussed. The hierarchy of access to the laboratory setup operation management system has been defined. The presented system has an open architecture. The course of further development of the system has been proposed. The created system allows for adjusting laboratory experiments to both the undergraduate and graduate student needs. Beside the technical and programming problems also the procedural and legal issues associated with the remote laboratory exercises execution have been considered.
