Abstract :
UTFGS is the first Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) project in China. The operational test of UTFGS involves traffic information communication between the Traffic Information Center (TIC) and UTFGS vehicles. A suitable telecommunication network is designed for UTFGS with respect to the prevailing condition of China and the actual communication need of UTFGS. Data coding and error correcting coding techniques are used in order to transmit the large amount of traffic data efficiently and safely
