Abstract
Real networks often undergo over-loaded traffic, which will cause congestion or even cascading failure. The limited capacity and the process rate of network nodes may cause performance degrade and serious delays. This paper analyzes the effectiveness of remitting congestion through upgrading the hardware of networks. The simulations show that congestion in a weighted scale-free network is affected by its scale-free feature and this simple way to ease the congestion effects is very significant. It shows that control only a small number of key nodes can get the similar effect of controlling all network nodes.
