Abstract
A squirrel cage induction motor rated at 2984kW, 6,9kV, 60Hz, 3556rpm with direct start applied to drive a main blower in a blast furnace facility presents random trips during starts and also an event of motor burning. Those trips interrupt the motor starting by 50N or by 46N function actuations. Considering even the risk of motor damaging and the consequent interruption of blowed air supplying to the furnace, as the risk of human injuries by step or touch voltage, this paper presents the analysis and solution applied to eliminate those trips.
