Abstract :
Regional myocardial time density curves produced by intravenous contrast medium are shown to have significant artifacts associated with contrast medium concentrations within the left ventricular cavity. Phantom measurements show this relationship to be between -2 and 10% compared to the expected 5-20% myocardial signal. A correction-smoothing algorithm that assumes that the initial left ventricular enhancement can return the regional myocardial curve to baseline and applied throughout all images reduces the heterogeneity of regional time density curves. The corrected curves were analyzed for flow using a model that accounts for intramyocardial blood volume and tissue transit time
