  • Abstract
A compliant strain gauge sensor has been developed to monitor infant respiration, and to detect episodes of apnea. Previous clinical studies have indicated that an abdominally placed mercury strain gauge yields a more efficacious respiration signal than a transthoracic impedance monitor. The thin-film sensor is designed to supplant the mercury strain gauge in this application. Test results for three sensors are shown. One-way analysis of variance for apnea duration shows no significant difference among them
