Abstract
Model base management systems (MBMSs) handle complicated problems in decision support systems (DSSs). Deductive reasoning approaches are used to construct qualitative models to improve decision performance. A model construction mechanism is proposed based on a case based reasoner with a deductive reasoning mechanism. The case based reasoner performs model construction by retrieving previous similar model building experiences and adapting their solution plans for a new problem. The deductive reasoning mechanism is used to generalize cases in the case base to enlarge the scope of problem solving spaces
