Abstract
The improvement of guidance possibilities of medium range missiles with new missiles like the Mica/Amraam increases the number of phases in aerial duels and implies more complex shooting and escape strategies. Therefore we are interested in developing algorithmic methods to study these new duels, which are difficult to study merely with the classical techniques of game theory. This article develops some results to explain more particularly how to design an evasion strategy to protect an aircraft against the missile of an opponent. We describe this evasion strategy built with hypothetic missile simulations and barriers of differential pursuit-evasion sub-games between aircrafts and missiles. This evasion strategy is used in the several simulations of a decision support system called ADAM and developed using expert system techniques. Then we compare different duels played with ADAM and discuss future improvements. This study results from a collaboration between MATRA-DEFENSE, which is interested in new methodologies for pilot decision support system, and INRIA
