Abstract
Nowadays, the power system is facing new challenges in increasing renewable energy sources´ penetration. One of these problems is voltage stability in wind farms equipped with doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) during grid faults. Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices can be used for this problem. This paper, investigates the Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) application to achieve uninterrupted operation of wind turbine equipped with DFIG during grid faults. The simulation has been done in PSCAD/EMTDC framework.
