Abstract :
In this contribution, results of PD pattern analysis of different defects in the stator insulation for different detection methods are discussed. Samples of complete stator windings with intentionally introduced defects have been used for this purpose. The PD signals have been detected and analyzed in two ways: 1. Using the conventional PD detection technique according to IEC 270 recommendation. 2. Using the VHF detection technique apt for on-line measurements. Rogowski coils and stator slot couplers in combination with a spectrum analyzer have been used to measure the VHF response of PD signals
