Abstract
In this study the authors analyzed and implemented a medical object-oriented database management system for a typical cardiologic center. The system integrates both software (for database management and analysis) and hardware (for the acquisition of cardiological signals). Particular attention has been paid to the ease of use, the development of the necessary programming modules for the realization and maintenance of the system and to the patient file record design and security for use in cardiovascular centers. Statistical analysis is also available through integrated options or by exporting data to other specialized software.<>
