ECG data interchange within the framework of the SCP-ECG and the OEDIPE projects

One of the main objectives of the OEDIPE project is to implement and experiment electronic data interchange of digital ECGs following the lines of the SCP-ECG protocol, setting up demonstrators for cart-to-host and host-to-host communications and exchanging ECG and other related data between several test sites. A demonstrator for host-to-host ECG data interchange was set up between two centres namely Leuven in Belgium and Lyon in France. This paper outlines the architecture of the host-to-host demonstrator and some of the building blocks that have been implemented and tested. It also describes and evaluates the operational testing procedure, and gives results and recommendations about the whole demonstration process.<>
