Abstract :
Facing on the uncertainty in the information exchange among the design tasks of assemblies of a new product, a method of task decomposition based on linguistic design structure matrix with adjustable granularity is presented in this paper. In this method, the degree of information exchange is described by linguistic variables, and the linguistic structure matrix is cut by a level, then the tasks are clustered into some task classes according to the matrix cut, so the design tasks are decomposed. A computational example is studied and its soft program is designed in this paper, and its results reveal that the method is valid.
