Abstract :
The problem of robust damping control based on robust control theory is formulated in this paper. This new formulation simplifies the procedure in selecting the appropriate weighting functions during the controller design process in comparison with the standard robust control designs. In addition, a new method of synthesizing a nominal model to reduce the uncertainty bounds is proposed. The effectiveness of this new formulation is demonstrated in a power system damping controller design for a static VAr compensator (SVC)
