Abstract :
This paper presents a systematic robust decentralized design procedure based on the H-optimization technique for tuning multiple flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices. The design procedure extends the model-matching robustness formulation presented in Taranto et al. (1993) by using a parameter to decentralize the centralized controller. The approach is used to design an SVC and a TCSC damping controller to enhance the damping of the inter-area modes in a 3-area 6-machine system. The feedback signals for the controllers are synthesized from the local voltage and current measurements
