Abstract
Antennas optimization design using optimization algorithm is an important task in modern antennas research. An approach, which is based on differential evolution strategy and CST (computer simulation technology) electromagnetic simulation software, is explored in this paper to design and optimize low-pitch helical antennas. Two kinds of low-pitch helical antennas are optimized by the method: A low-pitch angle cylindrical helical antenna with a bandwidth of 30.5% for 3dB axial-ratio criterion is optimized in frequency band 3.6~4.9GHz; and a low-pitch tapered helical antenna with a 3dB axial-ratio bandwidth of 17.5% is also optimized in frequency band 3.6~4.4GHz. Result shows that approach can design and optimize complicated antennas structure effectively.
