Abstract
A single-stage packet-scattering hardware, called a pseudo randomizer (PR), is proposed for distributing nonuniform input streams uniformly over the entire banyan network. The PR is nonblocking and distributes the input stream from each of N inputs over N possible paths in the banyan. The PR-banyan has been analyzed under nonuniform traffic and shown to be highly effective, almost reaching the performance of banyan under uniform traffic. The analytic results have been verified to be within 3% of the simulation results. The PR-banyan shows high throughputs and significantly shorter delays than the earlier banyan-banyan switch
