Abstract :
This paper introduces a novel transmission co-ordination protocol for single hop lightwave networks based on the WDM star topology. The novel feature of this algorithm is the use of a passive listening mechanism (in-band signalling) to obtain status information regarding the network channels. The protocol is adaptive, allowing for flexible assignment of bandwidth. It is especially useful when loads and traffic distribution change with time
