Abstract :
The authors analyze the performance of M-ary CDMA (code-division multiple access) systems over fading multipath indoor radio channels using channel measurements from five different locations. The performance is presented as the probability of error as a function of signal-to-noise ratio for a given number of active transmitters. The particular examples use the measured multipath characteristics from five manufacturing areas and the bandwidth assigned by the FCC. Performance calculations based on actual channel measurements show little difference when no external diversity is used. Maximal-ratio combining with two orders of external diversity increases the performance. The improvement varies among the different areas
